‘PARENTING IN CHALLENGING TIMES’

On 31 August 2020, Greenway Modern School in collaboration with Pearson India Education Services Pvt. Ltd. organized a webinar conducted live on the School’s Facebook on the topic of Parenting in Challenging Times. 

Dr. Geetanjali Kumar, a renowned psychologist, was the speaker of the webinar who provided the parents, students, and teachers with many remedies to cope with the prevailing situations. The challenges that parents face these days with their children, how to encourage them and motivate them to be an active part of household chores, how to remove the communication gap developed in between teachers and students, how to strengthen the bond shared by parents and their children, etc, all these were appropriately answered by Dr. Geetanjali Kumar in the session.

Dr. Geetanjali also focussed on how to deal with the examination stress and ways to deal with any sort of stress, anxiety, or depression and also gave various parenting tips to the parents and how to deal with teenagers. She also addressed the queries of the parents dropped by the parents in the webinar and answered all with a remedy.

It was an absolutely enriching and informative experience for all.

A webinar on Listening skills was organized by the primary students of Greenway Modern School, by the renowned speaker Mr. Lucky (from H.T). 

He emphasized on listening rather than just hearing. He also explained to the students how it helps in their all-over growth in personality and success in life. He asked the students how to behave while attending a class and with the people around them. Various slides were shown to the children about enhancing this skill. 

The webinar ended with a few listening activities. The students enthusiastically took part in the activity 

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated annually to mark the birth of Lord Ganesha, the God of new beginnings and a fresh start.

It is celebrated with much fervor and joy.  The festival is celebrated by installing lord Ganesha’s idol at home and in pandals.  This year, schools were closed due to Covid-19, so the students of Pre School and Pre Primary celebrated this festival at home.   They made Ganesha’s idol at home with disposable glasses and decorated them beautifully.  This was an eco-friendly way of celebration where the children enjoyed a lot.

A virtual webinar was organized in Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden for the school students of class VI TO IX on 19 August 2020 by Hindustan Times Team.

The topic of the workshop was ” India’s first-of- initiative for the school children, HT Codeathon.”

 The aim of this workshop was to boost the coding skill in school students and to give information about the coding skills and programming careers.

Class 6th to 9th students had participated in this Webinar in 2 different slots. The resource person told about the possibility of kids coding and the opportunity to learn computer science at school and beyond. The resource person also mentioned the benefits of learning to code.

This Webinar was followed by a question-answer session where the queries of students and their parents were taken up by the resource person.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 

Each Child is blessed with talents that are unique and to bring out these hidden talents, Greenway Nursery School organized a Fancy Dress Competition on the theme of famous FREEDOM FIGHTERS for the students of classes Pre School & Pre Primary.

The children were dressed in appropriate costumes. They spoke a slogan or a quote of the famous freedom fighter he/she wanted to replicate, with confidence and enthusiasm.

Children looked beautiful dressed up like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, etc. 

The objective of the competition was met as students learned about many important famous figures and their achievements. It helped to build their conversational skills.

The performance was judged based on the following criteria – Creativity,  Speech, Confidence & Originality of the character portrayed.         

We really appreciate the efforts of our enthusiastic and energetic parents who strived to create imaginative costumes for the Fancy Dress Competition

All our little ones were looking adorable. They won our hearts with their exuberance and enthusiasm!

' Dance.... a joy of movement and heart of joy'

Krishna Janmashtami or Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrated to mark the birth of Krishna, an avatar of Vishnu.

Extremely influenced by the great feel Greenway Nursery School organized a virtual Dance Competition for classes Pre School & Pre Primary. Students exhibited their extraordinary spirit in the form of exploring their hidden talent. All the participants danced with passion, zeal, and full of life. 

Girls dressed up & danced as Radha & boys as Krishna. Children were judged based on their costume, confidence, creativity, and overall presentation & choreography.  

These types of competitions help students to open up & bring more exposure to their personality. Overall a highly appreciable event was considered and marked as successful.

The passionate and zealous students of Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden have added another feather in the school’s cap by participating in the school’s first Intra Model United Nations tournament which was conducted by the school in collaboration with concord collective and making it a great success. It was a four-day event that consisted of the Orientation(4 August’20), Training(7 August’20), Competition(8&9 August’20), and the Award Ceremony(9 August ’20). It was completely a virtual event. Near about 120 students of classes, IX-XII participated in the tournament and got the opportunity to get trained by the professionals. The students learned about Lobbying, Researching, Debating, etc. and gained lots of confidence in public speaking.

Mr. KG Suresh, Founder Dean, school of Modern Media UPES, Dehradun, was the chief guest of the award ceremony who graced the occasion with his presence and enlightened and inspired the entire team of MUN and the participants with his worthy words.

Some talented students and the team members performed in the open mic session.

 All the winners of the tournament were felicitated in the award ceremony and all the participants are given the certificate of participation.

The Principal of the school, Mr. Mohit Sachdeva, praised the efforts of all the students.

It was a great achievement for the school.

A webinar was organized by Greenway Modern School on 05.08 2020 by HT resource person Mr. Lucky Puchhrat on Creative Writing

 He enlightened the students about the various traits of a good writer, what is creative writing?

He made the students familiar with ways to improve creative writing skills and tips to become a creative writer. 

He ended with a very good quote

"Imagination is more important than knowledge."

The webinar was very interactive and students learned that it is more about the writer than the reader.

A webinar on Scratch was conducted by Kips for the students of classes 6,7 and 8.
The resource person was Ms Jatinder.

She focused on the importance of Scratch and presented the strategies of how to get children started with Scratch.
Students learnt about tools of Scratch and also learnt about many activities that they can do in Scratch.
Through this webinar, students learnt how to share their work, present their work to others in a very impressive way.

The webinar was a kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts, ideas and perspective that enhanced the knowledge and understanding of the students.

RAKHI CELEBRATIONS IN GMS

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the enthusiastic students of Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden celebrated the time by adding their grace of creativity and skills to it. On the occasion, various activities like Poster making, Poem Composition, Rakhi making and Article Writing were organized by the school for the students. All the students partook in the activities with great fervour and showed their best creativity. The Principal of the school, Mr. Mohit Sachdeva appreciated the efforts of the students and praised them for their constant endeavours.

Raksha Bandhan is a festival which celebrates the bond of a brother and sister. It is one of the most important festivals of Hindus. 

On this auspicious occasion, the sisters tie a sacred thread i.e rakhi on the wrist of their brothers and wish good health and long life for them. On the other hand, the brothers, in turn, bless their sisters and pledge to protect them and care for them all their lives. 

This year also the students of Greenway Nursery School, Dilshad Garden,  celebrated Raksha Bandhan with the same zeal and enthusiasm. Although the schools are closed due to COVID - 19 that did not dampen the spirit and the essence of the festival remained the same. 

Sisters tied rakhi on their brother's wrists and brothers in return gave gifts to their sisters. They both reaffirmed their pious bonds of affection.  Girls who did not have brothers tied rakhi to trees & vowed to protect them.
