He explained that the RTE Act is a law in India that mandates free and compulsory education for all children between the ages of 3 to 14. The Act was passed by the Indian Parliament in 2009 and came into effect on 1st April, 2010. He also provided the following pointers: - The Act sets standards for teacher-student ratios, infrastructure, and teaching methods in schools to ensure quality education. - Children cannot be denied admission in schools, and no child can be held back or expelled until they complete elementary education (up to class 8). - The Act emphasizes the inclusion of children from marginalized sections such as those with disabilities, children from economically weaker sections, and others who may have been excluded from the traditional education system. - It mandates the formation of a National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and State Commissions (SCPCR) for the protection of child rights to ensure the provisions of the Act are followed. - The Act requires private schools to reserve 25% of their seats for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

These children are provided free education in private institutions, with the government reimbursing the cost. 3% out of this 25% has to be reserved for Children with Special Needs (CWSN). The DoE Secretary, Shri B.S. Aggarwal emphasized on the importance of the RTE Act and its timely implementation and compliance by the school authorities. Further, Shri R.P. Singh, the resource person elaborated on the history and enforcement about the act, followed by Shri R.K. Sharma, the Principal of C-Block School about the practical aspect of RTE Act in detail. Lastly, the Nodal Teachers were directed to sensitize the teaching and non-teaching staff of their institutions for the proper implementation of the RTE Act to uphold its true spirit that is to ensure that no child is excluded from the education system due to economic or social reasons.

The Nodal teacher gave a training session to the teachers of the school about the RTE Act in detail.
