The primary wing of Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden, celebrated the vibrant festival of Diwali on October 28, 2024, with great enthusiasm and joy. Students from Classes 1 to 5 showcased their talents and love for Indian culture by participating in various cultural activities aimed at entertaining and educating their peers about the rich heritage of Diwali.

Day 1: Cultural Performances (28th October)

The event opened with lively dance performances by students from each class. The young performers grooved to various festive songs that captured the essence of Diwali, portraying the festival’s importance through creative expression. Each performance celebrated values like light over darkness, good over evil, and unity within diversity.  The joyful atmosphere spread throughout the audience as students entertained and imparted knowledge about the traditions surrounding Diwali. Their participation emphasized the importance of cultural understanding at an early age.

At the end of the event, Ms. AnujaJaitly, the Senior Coordinator, delivered a heartfelt speech. She extended her warm wishes for a safe and joyous Diwali to all students and provided guidance on celebrating the festival responsibly, reminding them of the importance of kindness and eco-friendly practices.

Day 2: Diwali-Themed Activities (29th October)

The celebrations continued on the next day with class-wise activities, where students enthusiastically participated in hands-on projects designed to enhance their creativity and understanding of Diwali traditions. Each class focused on unique themes such as preparing greeting cards for their families, decorating diyas to bring a spark of creativity to the tradition of lighting diyas, drawing rangoli art using coloured powders and stickers, celebrating the custom of decorating homes, making lanterns that symbolize light and hope, and preparing colourful torans to add a festive touch.

Additionally, students from the upper grades participated in activities that further enhanced the festive spirit such as making Diwali posters reflecting the themes of the grand festival, making Diwali-themed origami, and preparing Diwali collages using old magazines. The students showed immense enthusiasm while participating in these activities, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere throughout the school.

To conclude, the two-day celebration at Greenway Modern School was a grand success, filled with fun, learning, and cultural appreciation. The students not only engaged in creative projects but also gained a deeper understanding of the essence of Diwali.

The school’s efforts in organizing this event were well-received by both students and staff, leaving everyone with a sense of joy and anticipation for future celebrations. The Diwali celebration concluded with everyone wishing each other a happy, prosperous, and safe Diwali.
