Janmashtami, the joyous festival that marks the birth of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Greenway Nursery School. This celebration not only introduced young children to India's cultural and religious heritage but also provided an opportunity for fun and creative activities. The school was decorated with flowers and images of baby Krishna. There was a small setup of Krishna’s cradle, with the little idol adorned with flowers and lights. Rangoli designs, peacock feathers, and miniature pots added to the festive atmosphere.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the dress-up activity. Children came dressed as little Krishna and Radha, wearing traditional attire like dhotis, peacock crowns, and colorful lehengas. Cultural programs were organized where little Krishnas danced with the Gopis. A miniature version of the Dahl Handi ceremony was organized, where a pot filled with sweets was hung low, and children took turns trying to break it with a stick, mimicking the traditional celebration. This was done under the careful supervision of teachers to ensure safety. The celebration concluded with the distribution of Prasadam.
Along with the Janmashtami celebration, the school also organized a cultural program for Independence Day, where children dressed up as freedom fighters, shouted out slogans, and danced to patriotic songs. Janmashtami and Independence Day were vibrant, fun-filled celebrations that introduced children to important cultural traditions. Through dress-up, storytelling, art, and music, young children experienced the joy of these festivals, creating memories and learning about the values of love, friendship, and devotion.
