Ovarian cancer is a significant health concern affecting women worldwide. It is often referred to as the “silent killer” because its symptoms are subtle and easily overlooked until the disease has progressed to advanced stages. To raise awareness and promote early detection, a workshop on Ovarian Cancer was held on 27th September,2023 at Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden. This workshop aimed to educate teachers about the risk factors, symptoms, screening methods, and prevention strategies related to ovarian cancer. The workshop commenced with welcoming Dr. Preisha, an Oncologist, at Max Hospital, Vaishali, and introducing the importance of discussing ovarian cancer. Dr. Preisha gave an overview of what ovarian cancer is, its prevalence, and its impact on women’s health. She discussed the risk factors like identifying factors that increase the risk of ovarian cancer, such as age, family history, and genetic mutations. She discussed the subtle signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer that women should be aware of. She told the teachers that early detection and diagnosis can boost the survival rate. Dr. Preisha guided the teachers to explore available screening methods and diagnostic procedures, including pelvic exams, ultrasound, and blood tests. She asked all teachers to adopt a healthy diet and lifestyle to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer. At last, there was a Question & Answer session which was an opportunity for participants to ask questions and seek clarifications. The workshop on ovarian cancer awareness and prevention successfully educated teachers about the risks, symptoms, and prevention strategies associated with this disease. All teachers left with a deeper understanding of ovarian cancer and the importance of early detection. Moreover, the Q&A session ensured that participants had their specific queries addressed. Ovarian cancer is a serious health issue that affects thousands of women each year. Raising awareness and promoting early detection are crucial steps in combating this disease. The workshop served as an informative platform for participants to gain knowledge, share experiences, and take proactive steps toward reducing their risk of ovarian cancer. It was an excellent initiative taken by Greenway Modern School for its teachers.
