WORKSHOP ON REMODELLED ASSESSMENT AT SECONDARY SCHOOL LEVEL

We are human and not perfect. We try things, make mistakes, we get hurt. We rise again, we try again .We keep learning and we keep growing. With this motive CBSE workshop was conducted on 16th May 2018 at DAV Shreshtha Vihar. Mrs. Yogyata Mathur PGT Biology participated in this workshop. Latest CBSE circular related to new assessment policy for class IX and X discussed. As CCE pattern of report card was given. Health and physical education is included as compulsory subject under Co-Scholastic area. It has defined curricular with all practical and no theory. Weightage of marks for HPE shall be 100. It includes physical fitness, games,SEWA etc. Assessment will be done throughout the year by PET, Class teacher or Subject teacher. Overall experience of the workshop was fruitful.

    Topic: The Rising Unassailable Goddess 
    Activity: Picture letter to mother and teacher

    " Moving from glory to glory, evading every corner of darkness greenway never fails trailing on the cliff of enduring success. "

    On 25th April 2018,  an ISA group activity was organized for class II students at our school to provide the students on importance of mothers and teachers in their life. Different roles that mothers and teachers plays for them. Students were told to bring the material in advance for the activity. This activity is a part of ISA Activity on the topic " The Rising Unassailable Goddess " it involved cent percent participation of students with vital guidance of teachers. Activity aimed at bringing the best of a child's imagination. The students were guided by the  teacher to make a picture letter for their mother and teachers. Students made different creative things like collage, cards, photo frames ,etc.

    The purpose of the activity is to make the students realize the importance of mother and teachers in their life and what additional effort are put by their mother and teachers for their upbringing.

    Students got a better exposure to showcase their creativity,  talent and feelings for a mother and teachers.

    All the students actively  participated in this activity

      ISA Activity - CLASS III 
      Topic: Role play on Unassailable women of the world and how they affect our daily lives.

      An ISA group activity was organized for class III students in the month of April to make the little children aware of the power of women in their daily lives. Be it their mother,  teachers, house maid or the strong women around them who had toiled hard to achieve their positions.

      Students were encouraged to play the roles of women in their lives like - mother, teachers, housemaids, nurse, and also the strong women of the world who make a difference in their lives.

      An open ended discussion was held in every section of the class by their class teacher and students were given information about the famous women of the world too.

      Quizzes based on the roles of women were held in their classes so that they learn to respect the role of women in their lives and to get inspired by them.

      The students, parents and teachers participated enthusiastically in the activity to make it successful. 

      Activity: - Small handmade gifts.

      On 25th April the students of class III did anISA activity on hand made gifts for their mothers and teachers as an expression and gratitude. Art teachers helped them to give a proper shape to their gifts.

      They learned new techniques to make the gifts and all the sections participated in the activity enthusiastically. Every student enjoyed, they made different types of gifts like greeting cards, personal diary, flowers, flower basket mugs with marble prilating etc.

      Overall it was an interesting activity and through this activity an aesthetic sense was developed and it

      Enhanced the imagination of the students.

        ISA Activity – CLASS VII

        Project: Women Rising Unassailable Goddess

        A collaborative ISA Activity was conducted by class VII. The activity was conducted for mathematics in the form of data analysis through graphical representations and pie chart. The activity continued from 23 April 2018 to 27 April 2018. It helped the learners in enriching their analytical skills and critical thinking. The learners acquired the knowledge on women's role in social, political, cultural, economical aspects of life and how they are getting a hold in society.

        The activity instilled them with a sense of giving more prominence to women in ethical and economical spheres of life and applying the same in reality.

          THEME- "CONTRIBUTION OF WOMEN IN THE FIELDS OF SCIENCE, SOCIAL UPLIFTMENT  AND  PEACE"

          An activity has been organized for ISA by all the sections of X standard. Students have created wall magazines on the theme- "Contribution of women in the fields of Science, Social upliftment  and  Peace" from 5 different countries namely India, Japan, Mexico, Russia and South Korea. Each section was given a country for representation and divided in groups to research and collect materials. Various articles, interesting facts and other materials have been created by students for the same and displayed on the board.  A questionnaire was drafted for each class to evaluate the learning outcome.

            Project :  Women – The rising unassailable goddess

            Online Magazine

            This year our school shares a hearty association with the British council honouring the women around the world who have captured the spotlight for the most righteous reasons through the art of giving. This year our school launches its very first E-magazine honouring these outstanding philanthropic contribution that made a difference. Our team of worthy researches and IT team have spent days on the magazine so much so that it wasn’t an activity anymore. Every day as our researches would collect information and our IT team designed and pull the content along we took a piece of it with us.   

            Over 25 students from our school and of the Russian school with whom we had the honour to show a successful student exchange programme had helped to design and put up their state of art. We all sincerely hope that all of you can appreciate the handwork that has been put into this magazine for today we pay our tribute to these wonderful women who gave for they are the ones who wanted to return what they received –love and honour.

            The students of commerce stream of Class XII went to SEBI to attend a session at their Delhi office. SEBI is a stock market regulating body which monitors how trading must be done and keeps a check on inside trading and the mal practices prevailing in the stock market in investment world.It was a financial education program where in the students learnt financial education.The session was   educative with the lot of insights about various financial and markets investment topics.  It concluded with a question and answer session where children could directly speak to SEBI officers and clarify their doubts . It was indeed a special visit for all the students. The students were given participation certificates this visit was initiated by their business studies teacher Ms. Riddima. The Principal of the school Mr. Mohit  Sachdeva emphasized that such educational visits should be undertaken to understand the stock market.

              Evening sky observation is always an enriching experience. In our school on 18th May 2018, for our Astronomy Club Students, an evening session was conducted by the educators from the concerned field.  Initially children attended a lecture on the handling of Telescopes and other features of sky.  It was followed by a practical session where children observed moon and other celestial bodies available in sky with telescope of high resolving power.  It was altogether a great learning  through fun

                On 9th may, the selected students of classes VIII,IX and X, accompanied by their teachers, went on an exchange visit to the Korean cultural centre. The day was abuzz with excitement among the students as they got to learn about the life style of Koreans including their festivals, attires, cuisine and culture. It was fun to learn a few words of acknowledgment in Korean language too. It was a great opportunity for the students and they enjoyed the experience thoroughly.

                  An interactive session for class VIII students was organized wherein their academic coordinator discussed the importance of scheduled studies and co-curricular activities as well. She even discussed issues like teenage and peer pressure. In the end she also advised the students to inculcate a productive hobby in their lives.

                    INTERACTIVE SESSION WITH THE PRINCIPAL SIR:

                    Our school organized an interactive session for the students with the honorable principal sir. Principal sir aimed towards this tete-e-tete with the students through this unique interactive program as a part of encouraging them to fear up for the studies. He prompted the students to gain more exposure in life and discuss their views about pertinent issues related to students. An encouraging video was also shown to the students to encourage the students.

                      The primary, middle and senior wing of greenway celebrated Mothers Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. Since mothers hold a special place in the hearts of the children, they left no stone unturned to show their appreciation for their mothers.

                      To show their love and respect towards their mothers, the young and enthusiastic Greenwanians danced their heart out in a stage show.

                        BLUE COLOUR DAY - NURSERY WING

                        The Pre School celebrated Blue Color Day on 04.05.2018.  It was a pleasant and a cool blue day for the tiny tots.  The dress code, for teachers as well as students was blue.

                         Excitement and enthusiasm was visible everywhere.  All the children came dressed up in different shades of blue.  The classrooms were decorated with blue balloons.  The little ones made as elephant through cotton dabbing. Students were made to recognize blue color through different games and activities.

                          It was a visual treat to see the good effects of blue color on our little ones.

They were shown a video on how corruption starts and were told to write on any topic which they felt was an hindrance for the development of country.                             During this summer vacation GMS has organized hobby classes for the primary wing Classes I to V. The classes include Art, Dance and Calligraphy for the improvement of the handwriting of the students. The focus of the camp is to brush up the talent of the students, utilize their time in a positive way, moulding them into true learners. The classes are going on full-fledged with children participating in them enthusiastically.

                              A workshop on parenting was organized on 14Th May in the school premises for classes 1 and 2 conducted by Ms. Renu Gupta where in tips on parenting and bad touch and good touch were given to the parents to enable them to guide their ward with reference to the current scenario of our society. It was an enriching experience for the parents and it proved to be a successful session.

                                The students of class XII went to The Kingdom of Dreams, Gurgaon, as a part of their annual picnic. They enjoyed a lot as it was a day when they could forget about their students and got a much deserved outing with their classmates and favorite teachers. The endless selfie sessions and dancing on dhol beats added on to the fun part. The enriching viewing of the theater show Zangoora – the gypsy prince.

                                   A group activity was organised for class VI students of Greenway Modern School as a part of ISA project namely “Learning to play playing to learn” from 20th April to 25th April to provide an insight into things that exist beyond the curriculum and to develop knowledge, life skills as well as to remove monotony in class studies

                                   

                                            The group activity provided the students a brief glance of different sports of different countries i.e. India (chess), South Korea (Taekwondo), Bangladesh (Kabaddi), Iceland (Handball), Nepal (Volley ball) while enabling them to research and write a picture essay based on their research. Through this project students learnt more about popular sports of their and other country .This was implemented with the following objective in mind:

                                   

                                  1.    Gaining knowledge about sports person in different sports in India and other countries.

                                  2.    Studying the life and history of the chosen sports person.

                                  3.    Writing a picture essay on the sport person.

                                  4.    Answering a small questionnaire based on the essay to ensure understanding of the global knowledge of sports.

                                   

                                  Each section was assigned a country as per section as per the given list of countries. The class was divided into a group of 10-12 students each group representative was assigned. Each group was then chosen their sports person of the particular game. Students collected the data from various source like magazine, Google etc. They also took help from their parents and teachers. Then they prepared intriguing folders highlighting the players achievements their inclination for sports .The students just not only pasted stimulating pictures of the players but also delved into various stages of life through which they have passed along with their unending struggle which further grilled their game. The inspiration of the players were also mentioned in the essay which was a balm for them in hard period of the life which succour them to reach the zenith of success.

                                           

                                  A general quiz was prepared on the basis of picture essay as the evaluation procedure to ensure the students thorough understanding of the history and life of the player.

                                           

                                  Though the students came across a lot of hurdles during the course of this activity like collection of data regarding players and their life as they had very less information about the players of other countries. To understand the complexities of life of these players was another task for them. But the students brilliantly completed this activity with the support of their teachers and parents.

                                           

                                            The group activity was an enlightening and inspirational activity for the student, parents as well as the teachers because they came to know about the hardship undergone by the successful people in their lives. This activity also helped in developing communication and collaborative skills involved in team work. Also develop sense of friendliness and team sprit. Learn to cope up with men.

                                           

                                            The distribution of responsibility provided for encouragement of leadership qualities and team work amongst the students. Not typically looked upon as possible career choice in a country like India, the students were inspired from the life of these sports person and the consideration of sports careers also struck certain young minds. It was successfully concluded as all students took part in it with great enthusiasm.

                                    Project: learning to play and playing to learn 
                                    Activity: collage making

                                    Collage making activity was conducted in class 7 from 20/4/18 to 27/4/18. Each section was alloted a country and it's sport. Further each section was divided into groups for the activity.

                                    Research work took three days after that students took two days to think and show their abilities and skills for making Collage. On 27/4/18,  they came up with very innovative ideas and showed amazing creativity while making Collage. They were given 1 hour 30 mins for making Collage. 
                                    The objective of this activity was to make the learners understand about the rules and regulations of some popular sports played around the world. 

                                    Students collected information from various sources and executed the things very well. 
                                    Students learnt about great ideas which augmented their creativity. A general questionnaire was prepared on the basis of information collected by the students to ensure that they understand the things well. A quiz was also conducted in all the sections. Students showed enthusiasm in peer assessment also.

                                    The activity was successfully concluded as students developed a sense of friendliness and team spirit. They also learnt to develop strategic planning and this enhanced their vocabulary and creativity. They gained confidence and also learnt about time management.

                                      TOPIC:RULE BOOK OF GAMES VOLLEYBALL,TACKWANDO,

                                                                      HANDBALL, KABBADI & CHESS.

                                       

                                       

                                      A collaborative ISA Activity was conducted for class VIII, in which the students were asked to collect the pictures of various players associated with that particular game.  Each class was given a particular game and in class they neatly cut and pasted the pictures in the scrap book some children were not interested and had to be motivated cutting & pasting of pictures helped them in enriching the knowledge and developed the motive skills. It took nearly 2-3 days to complete the activity while pasting the pictures they showed their creativity. 

                                       

                                      After pasting the pictures, they wrote the rules from the origin, and how it is played, and the rules of the games were exchanged with every class.  The students listened to the rules of the game with lot of interest and enthusiasm. It was something new for the students, as they were told in detailed about the rules and regulations of each and every game.  The objective of this activity was to make the learners understand about the rules and regulations of popular sports played around the world.

                                       

                                      Students took keen interest in knowing the rules of the game.  A Quiz was also conducted in all the sections.  Students answered the questions with great enthusiasm. The activity was successfully completed as students developed a sense of friendliness and teamwork. They gained confidence & team management.  It was an enriching experience for the students as well as for the teacher.

                                        Topic: learning to play and playing to learn

                                        Under the ISA Activity planner,  class IX and XI were engaged in sports competition with the objective to make the students learn about popular games and sports popular in different countries. The sports taken up were as following 
                                        Kabbadi, handball, volleyball, taekwondo and chess. 
                                        All the sections of each grade IX and XI organized, participated and managed different demonstrative matches under the guidance of sports teacher. They made teams, referred, kept the score board, organized cheer leading and played the parts of commentators, volunteers, technical officers, medical helpers, slogan writers notching the participation level to 90%.

                                        All in all, it was an enriching experience where the students acquired discernment about important role that sports play in physical and mental development.
