BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION

Greenway Modern School, Dilshad Garden organized an activity which was conducted by Eco Club of the school in which the students were made to learn about the ill effects of plastic use.

In the activity, students of classes 3 and 4 were taught to eat in banana leaf instead of using any plastic utensils. Students of classes 5 and 6 were shown a presentation with regard to the effects of use of plastics. Grade 7 and 8 students were given an opportunity to make slogans and posters. Class 9 students were made aware and given knowledge about the use of plastic.

The activity enabled the students to learn more about use, advantages, disadvantages, etc of plastic. They also got to understand to say no to plastic as it is very harmful and causes cancer and other dangerous diseases. It was an educative and informative initiative taken by the school to generate the awareness among its students. Click here to view photographs

 

SENTINELS OF THE GRASSLANDS - AN ECO-CLUB ACTIVITY
As a part of the Eco-Club activity, a group of 50 students along with two teachers had the privilege to see Gaj Mahotsav on 14 August, a visual representation of 101 elephants which was organized by Wildlife Trust of India and The Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change at Indira Gandhi National Centre of Arts. It was a campaign of 4 days from 12-15 August to create awareness about the extinction of Asian elephants. It had an art exhibition, film shows and entertainment alongside sessions on policy.

The students attended a Best out of Waste workshop, clay modelling workshop, and saw a documentary of 84 minutes named as “Bastian of Giants” unravelled the story of the Asian Elephants.101 artificial elephants made up of different materials such as logs of wood, electronic parts, plastic bottles, and clay, etc. were set up. TREE PLANTATION - EARTH DAY PRIMARY - 21.04.2018
To save the earth a Tree Plantation drive was done and the students were explained the importance of growing trees and how they can save the environment.

 

Care and Concern for Mother Earth

The earth that we live on, is not a gift to us from our ancestors. It’s a legacy that we have to pass to our next generation. Climate change has a direct bearing not only on atmosphere but also on food security, health, energy and many other aspects of human life. It is therefore important that the battle of addressing causes of climate changes be fought by each and young environment crusaders of Greenway have taken up this noble cause zealously. The objective is to motivate young earth savers to imbibe eco-friendly habits and life style . Various activities are taken up house wise and inter class including – poster making, slogan writing, anti cracker, anti pollution, anti plastic bag and cleanliness etc. weeks are organized. Visit to bio-diversity parks is also arranged for the students.
